Shalom, and thank you for your interest in donating to Kehilat Sar Shalom.
We are classified as a non-profit church organization, and as such, can accept donations and provide tax receipts to our donors so that they may deduct their charitable gifts at tax time. Our organization strives to be good stewards with what God gives to us, and with the utmost integrity. Our financial status is discussed at length at our annual congregational meeting, which includes a review of the prior year’s budget and actual spending, and an overview of the coming year’s budget. But we cannot operate without the generosity of the community.
Exodus 36:5-7 says, “… they spoke to Moses, saying, ‘The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work which the Lord commanded us to do.’ So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, ‘Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.’ And the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done–indeed too much.”
The children of Israel understood that the work of building the Tablernacle could only happen if they gave. So they gave, and they gave, and they gave cheerfully, until Moses had to tell them to stop, what they had was more than enough. The work of building the Kingdom of God here can only happen if we do the same. When we give to complete God’s work, we are in excellent company!
Malachi 3:10 says, “‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,’ Says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.'” God Himself tells us that when we give, He will give back. Though it’s an interesting concept, because, in fact, it was God who gave first, not the other way around. Nevertheless, He tells us that if we invest in His kingdom, the return on the investment will be so great that there won’t be enough room to hold it all.
So thank you again for your donation. You are not only contributing to a good cause, the work of God, but you are fulfilling God’s Word as well. May He richly bless you!
